RESPECT IN THE WORKPLACE - IT'S THE LAW!

WorkSafeBC states that, "Bullying and harassment in the workplace can take many forms, including verbal aggression, personal attacks and other intimidating behaviours.  If workplace bullying and harassment is not addressed, it can lead to lost productivity, anxiety and depression.  An employer has a duty to ensure the health and safety of its workers, and as a result, employers must take all reasonable steps to prevent where possible, or otherwise minimize, workplace bullying and harassment."

Employers must implement procedures to respond to reports or incidents of bullying and harassment and must provide annual training/review to employees to meet requirements.

The parameters of these procedures are often difficult to fully understand and may be forgotten over time.   This 1/2 day seminar provides information on discrimination, bullying and harassment.  The seminar reviews your company's policies and procedures along with detailed information and discussion around WorkSafeBC's information regarding the following:

-  What is Discrimination?

-  What are Prohibited Grounds?

-  What does Bullying & Harassment Look Like?

-  What is NOT Bullying & Harassment?

-  What To Do When I Am (Or Others Are) Being Bullied or

     Harassed?

-  What is Retaliation?

-  Formal Resolution Options

WHAT IS MEDIATION?

The first step is to contact us, either by email or telephone.  We explain the mediation process and fees as they pertain to your unique situation.

Be assured that if you decide that mediation is right for you, all parties will have equal opportunity to speak and be heard, to have others gain the opportunity understand your point of view more than they have in the past . . . and you may understand them better too.

Through good faith discussions, each party will have the support of a neutral person, a mediator, to assist them in speaking to each other  in a way that they are being heard and understood, listening, hearing new information and helping to move past the anger to a place of understanding and agreement.

Each person is encouraged to reach a workable plan.  We help each person identify their areas of concern, have an open and honest conversation and assist this conversation by helping each person through the difficult moments.
